The Final Environmental Impact Statement for the Lava Ridge Wind Project is available
If you’ve followed this project for some time, you may have heard the term Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The EIS is a comprehensive review done by resource specialists directed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) that analyzes the impacts of a project like Lava Ridge.
The EIS is informed by public comments as well as comprehensive environmental studies. It’s a long process that must incorporate a large amount of data, wildlife studies, and input from stakeholders and cooperating agencies. This public process is important because it utilizes site specific data and scientific methods to analyze potential impacts, and for consideration of alternatives that reduce impacts to sensitive resources and stakeholder concerns.
The Final EIS for Lava Ridge is now available. We will be thoroughly reviewing the document and the agency’s findings, including their response to comments received on the January 2023 Draft EIS.
For the next few weeks, we’ll be sending those on our email list more frequent emails with information on what the Final EIS has to say on the topics that we hear about most – like livestock grazing, cultural resources, transportation and construction, groundwater, and wildlife. If you’d like to be included, please fill out your contact information here.
If you want to download and review the Final EIS from the BLM, we encourage you to visit their website.
We appreciate the ongoing emails of support as we move one step closer to creating much-needed clean, homegrown energy for Idaho and the West.
